Sunday Times Journalist Mzilikazi wa Afrika is to appear in the regional court in Kabokweni  eMpumalanga tomorrow or Friday. Wa Afrika was arrested by the Hawks in Johannesburg on Wednesday the 4th of August. Hawks spokesperson Musa Zondi told Growth online that "Afrika would be charged with fraud and defeating the ends of Justice". Zondi says about 10 days ago Wa Afrika was asked to explain a number of things to the Hawks. Zondi says Wa afrika did not respond to the request and instead referred the Hawks to a senior journalist at the Sunday Times. Zondi would not be drawn into what questions the Hawks had wanted wa Afrika to answer. The arrest follows a hawks investigation into allegations of crimes committed in Mpumalanga. Zondi told Growth online that the arrest was not in connection with an alleged letter of resignation of Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza which Wa Afrika allegedly has in his possession. Wa Afrika will be appearing in court with 2 other suspects, a male and a female, who are already in police custody. Zondi says the two other suspects are employed by the Mpumalanga provincial government outside of Nelspruit.
