President Zuma to visit Lesotho |

In his second international visit in 2 weeks, President Jacob Zuma, will undertake a State Visit to Lesotho from Thursday the 12th ending on Friday the 13 August 2010. During the visit President Zuma will meet with Lesotho Prime Minister Phakalitha Mosisili to discuss economic relations between Pretoria and Maseru, bilateral cooperation, the International Political Agenda. The two leaders are expected to also sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Economic Cooperation. The all important phase 2 of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project will also come under the spotlight during the visit. During the visit President Zuma will address a joint sitting of the Lesotho Parliament and also visit the Katse dam which provides a significant volume of water to South Africa. President Zuma has just returned from an official visit to Russia.

Nitshitenzhe joins Nedbank |

Joel Netshitenzhe, a former key policy-maker in the South African government and close ally of former President Thabo Mbeki, has joined Nedbank as an independent non-executive director. "Joel's extensive experience in social policy, economics, politics and communications will enable him to add significant value to the group and strengthen the independent non-executive component of the board," said Nedbank Chairperson Reuel Khoza. Netshitenzhe is also a member of the National Execuitve Committee of the ruling ANC where he sits on the Economic Transformation and Political Education sub committees. He is also a member of the National Planning Commission.

Public Service Unions have rejected government's revised wage increase offer of 7 % and a 630 rand housing allowance. The unions have stuck to their demand for an increase of 8.5 percent and a housing allowance of 1000 rand. |

President Jacob Zuma has concluded his visit to Russia with the announcement that his counterpart in Moscow will visit South Africa in 2012. Zuma was speaking at the conclusion of his 2 day official visit to Russia. focussing on the fires currently sweeping through Russia Zuma conveyed South Africa's deep-felt condolences during this difficult period.Zuma said Pretoria would seek to strengthen economic and trade relations with Moscow. He said "this would be done by focusing on the implementation of existing projects piloted through the Inter-Governmental Committee on Trade and Economic Development".

Mining Company Wesizwe Platinum CEO, Mike Solomon, is to step down. At a press conference in Johannesburg on the 4th of August 2010Wesizwe Chairperson Dawn Mokhobo announced that Solomon would not be renewing his contract for a further term. Mokhobo said with effect from the 1st of October 2010 Finance Director Arthur Mashiatshidi would take over as Chief Execuitve.
